I have five rules of work that apply to anything I’m doing:
Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Teamwork, Enjoyment.
Safety:
Working in a safe manner to ensure everyone involved gets to go home with the same number of pieces and holes as what they showed up with today.
Quality:
Any job worth doing is worth doing well, so while we’re doing it, let’s take the time to do it well, the first time, so we don’t have to do any part of it again.
Efficiency:
Work will invariably wear us out, that’s what work does. If we’re going to get worn out, we might as work in a manner that allows us to continue working, and to be as productive as possible.
Teamwork:
When we’re working with one or more people, let’s collaborate to ensure we’re not duplicating work, causing more work for others, or skipping work.
Bring the power of team work to the project.
“Many hands make light work”.
Enjoyment:
Poor mindset about the work you’re doing leads to poor quality of work being performed. If you don’t enjoy the work you’re doing, find work you do enjoy doing.
